Portfolio

Electrical engineer and PMP-certified program manager with ten years of experience across defense avionics and biomedical hardware development. I've designed avionics-grade circuit cards through qualification, led multi-program portfolios from requirements through formal V&V, and managed the budgets, schedules, and client relationships that keep complex hardware builds on track. My work spans RF and mixed-signal CCA design, FPGA-based digital systems, and full-platform embedded hardware. I'm equally comfortable reviewing a schematic as I am running a system design review.

Research Diagnostic Instruments

Projects

Defined and executed the full electrical design scope for multiple research diagnostic instruments, from system architecture through bench integration and test, while also serving as project manager owning schedule, budget, and client communication across each program. Led cross-functional teams spanning electrical, mechanical, and software disciplines through design, build, and verification milestones. Designed mixed-signal embedded systems built around STM32 microcontrollers with digital interfaces including I2C, SPI, and USB. Authored system block diagrams, interconnect documentation, and wire diagrams, and designed PCB layouts up to 6 layers in Altium. Power management designs drove DC motors, stepper motors, servo motors, and heating elements across various instrument platforms. Developed Python and C++ for controls and sensor feedback processing, and built custom cable assemblies for system integration and validation.

Airborne Embedded Subsystem

Designed avionics-grade datalink CCAs for an airborne embedded subsystem, including a digital board featuring a Xilinx UltraScale FPGA and an RF board supporting RX/TX operation across UHF, L-band, and S-band. Digital interfaces included DDR3, PCIe, JESD204B, RS-485, RS-232, I2C, SPI, and UART, with full schematic capture and layout completed in Altium. Designed power management architecture for a multi-core processor including sequencing and simulation in LTspice, and validated signal integrity and power distribution using Hyperlynx. Authored VHDL test code for initial FPGA integration and system bring-up. Also designed a 12-layer rigid-flex interface board hosting an ethernet switch with RS-232 and RS-485 connectivity. Supported LRU-level integration and qualification testing including EMI and environmental test to defense program standards.
